Its Time To Improve And Succeed
Everything that happens to us happens in purpose. And sometimes, one thing leads to another. Instead of locking yourself up in your cage of fears and crying over past heartaches, embarrassment and failures treat them as your teachers and they will become your tools in both self improvement and success.
I remember watching Patch Adams – its my favorite movie, actually. Its one great film that will help you improves yourself. Hunter Patch Adams is a medical student who failed to make it through the board exams. After months of suffering in melancholy, depression and suicidal attempts, he decided to seek for medical attention and voluntarily admitted himself in a psychiatric ward.
His months of stay in the hospital led him to meeting different kinds of people. Sick people in that matter. He met a catatonic, a mentally retarded, a schizophrenic and so on. Patch found ways of treating his own ailment and finally realized he has to get back on track. He woke up one morning realizing that after all the failure and pains he has gone through, he still want to become the a doctor.
He carries with himself a positive attitude that brought him self improvement and success. He didn’t only improved himself, but also the life of the people around him and the quality of life. Did he succeed? Needless to say, he became the best damn doctor his country has ever known. So, when does self improvement become synonymous with success? Where do we start?
1. Stop thinking and feeling as if you’re a failure, because you’re not. How can others accept you if YOU can’t accept YOU?
2. When you see hunks and models on TV, think more on self improvement, not self pitying. Self acceptance is not just about having nice slender legs, or great abs. Concentrate on inner beauty.
3. When people feel so down and low about themselves, help them move up. Don’t go down with them. They’ll pull you down further and both of you will end up feeling inferior.
4. The world is a large room for lessons, not mistakes. Don’t feel stupid and doomed forever just because you failed on a science quiz. There’s always a next time. Make rooms for self improvement.
5. Take things one at a time. You don’t expect black sheeps to be goody-two-shoes in just a snap of a finger. Self improvement is a one day at a time process.
6. Self improvement results to inner stability, personality development and dig this – SUCCESS. It comes from self confidence, self appreciation and self esteem.
7. Set meaningful and achievable goals. Self improvement doesn’t turn you to be the exact replica of a saint or an angel. It hopes and aims to result to an improved and better YOU.
8. Little things mean BIG to other people. Sometimes, we don’t realize that the little things that we do like a pat on the back, saying “Hi” or “Hell”, greeting someone “Good day” or telling Mr. Smith something like “Hey, I love your tie!” are simple things that mean so much to other people. When we’re being appreciative about beautiful things around us and other people, we also become beautiful to them.
9. When you’re willing to accept change and go through the process of self improvement, it doesn’t mean that everyone else is. The world is a place where people of different values and attitude hang out. Sometimes, even if you think you and your best friend always like to do the same thing together at the same time, she would most likely decline an invitation for self improvement.
10. We should always remember that there’s no such thing as over night successes. It’s always a wonderful feeling to hold on to the things that you already have now, realizing that those are just one of the things you once wished for.
A very nice quote says that “When the student is ready, the teacher will appear.” We are all here to learn our lessons. Our parents, school teachers, friends, colleagues, officemates, neighbors – they are our teachers. When we open our doors for self improvement, we increase our chances to head to the road of success. 1000s of Education,Training,Scholarship & Children Services.Click Here -

You think you figured out what is keeping you from focusing on work or school studies and you have dealt with it. You found that nice quiet place to do your work or you have figured out how to control the things around you to the point where you can focus. You have also learned to stop doing things like procrastinating and have learned to control stress and anxiety.
However, after everything you have done to get your mind to focus you are still having problems with your mind swimming with all kinds of thoughts. It does not matter how hard you try, if fact the more you try to concentrate on what you are doing the more you find that you cannot focus. Therefore, you find yourself looking through the widow or deep in thought while your project still needs to be finished.
Most of the time it is because we have not properly thought of the ultimate goal that keeps us from concentrating. If you do not know what it is that you want or need to do it can be a little tough to get started right? I mean, you can not take a successful road trip if you do not know which direction you want to go in or at least where you want to go.
So now is the time to sit down and set your goals, decide where it is you want to go and what it is that you want to do. If you find that your goal is a little hard to reach, just break it down into smaller goals that do not seem so overwhelming. You have to have a plan in order to get anywhere in life; even the smallest tasks need to have a plan of completion.
Having a plan can help you to easily overcome the overwhelmed feeling you have, which in turn will help you concentrate on the task at hand. The thing is, you know what it is that you want, you know how to get what it is that you want and you know how to get to that point. If you follow the plan you will get to the place you need to be in order to get what it is that you are looking for.
Now you have all that figured out. You have your goals set and you have you plan all planned out but wait, your assignment still has to be done and your thoughts are still scattered. You are still finding it hard to focus on the task at hand and getting it all your thoughts in order. If you still find you head swimming with thoughts it may be best to write all them down.
You can even try keeping a journal, this can help you decide what it is that you are really focusing on and then learn how to direct that focus where you need it to be. It would be really nice if we could all focus with the sharpness of a laser on the task at hand but unfortunately, it is unlikely that anyone can be as sharply focused as a laser.
When you are trying to focus on the project at hand and all other thoughts seem to be disabling us from doing so it is time to relax and find yourself in the Alpha State of mind where the mind is most creative. There are many things that we need to learn in order to keep our minds focused on the things that we need it to focus on.
We need to learn to block thoughts that are unwanted, keep our minds from being overwhelmed, make our attention spans longer, switch from one certain project to another and keep our minds from wondering around to other things. Continue Reading »Improve Focus and Concentration: Studying For Exams
For many students, when exams are announced, a fear overcomes them. A sense of dread fills them and they panic. This is due in part because exams are a very stressful time for many students. The fear of getting a bad grade, or worse failing the exam forces the student to literally keep their nose in a book, studying hour after hour, for weeks on end.
Perhaps the worst part of knowing an exam is approaching. The pressure builds and it makes if difficult to concentrate on studying. To study successfully, and retain what you have read, requires extreme concentration. This is called productive studying. Believe it or not, it is not as easy as it sounds.
Many people find that the pressure of upcoming exams stunts their power of concentration. They are unable to focus on just one subject long enough to retain the information necessary to pass the exams. There are some steps that you can take to assist you in concentrating.
The first thing you should do is to find a quiet place to study. Do not sit in the living room with the television on, you will find yourself watching TV instead of studying. This is the number on distraction for teenagers. Another big distraction is trying to study with music on in the background. You need a quiet place where you will not be disturbed by siblings or normal household activities. Those who say they can study better with music on do not realize that they are actually creating a distraction for themselves.
When you find a quiet place to study, make sure that you will be comfortable and the lighting is adequate. You do not want to strain your eyes trying to read, it will only give you a headache. You also do not want to study in the cellar or garage; these places usually are musty and can distract you from studying from a subconscious level.
When you choose a place to study, it is not recommended that you study outdoors. On a beautiful spring day, you may find yourself taking a catnap instead of studying. Drinking a beverage that has caffeine in it may help you to stay awake. You are also chancing running into friends that may also distract you from studying. Choosing the perfect place to study is crucial to your concentration. It should be well lit and well ventilated, with nothing to stimulate your senses at all.
It is important that you study one subject at a time. You may also be hurting your chances of retaining what you have studied when it is time to take your exam you are risking failure. Studying multiple subjects at the same time will only aid in confusing you, and when you take your exam, you may get the subjects confused.
It is important that you develop good study habits in your early school years. As you go up in grades it will become more difficult because you will have more subjects to study. Concentration is the key to good study habits. These habits will follow you through your adult life. When you create good study habits, you are increasing power of concentration that is necessary in everyday life. When you set goals for yourself, whether is in school or the workforce, it is important that you concentrate on the task at hand to obtain those objectives. For millions of people, it is not that easy.
It is difficult to obtain your objectives if you do not know what they are. It is necessary to
define what your goals are. This will assist you obtaining them. When you have clear and concise objectives, you will be able to focus and concentrate better.
When you take on too many tasks at one time, you are setting yourself up for failure. Overwhelming yourself with too many tasks will inhibit your ability to focus because you will stress about getting everything done on time. Doing one thing at a time will help you to concentrate better.
If the task that you have is a big one, breaking it down in segments will assist you in completing more competently. Focus on the segment that you are working on and not the whole project. Concentrating on the task in front of you will allow you to complete it correctly with very little stress, and more often than not, you can complete it before the deadline.
No matter who you are, expect the unexpected. There are no guarantees that you are going to have a error proof life. Obstacles always crop up and you need to be prepared to handle whatever is thrown at you in order to meet your goals. Distractions are all around us everyday, being able to shut them out and concentrate on your task will assist you in completing it quickly and efficiently.
Success and recognition is gained over time. Nothing worth having is easy. You need to be able to concentrate and do the very best that you can in everything that you do. It is important that you do not give in to stress, it will only slow you down and concentration will be difficult if not impossible. Sometimes taking a short break will help you to regain your focus and concentration. You may find that by doing this, your focus will improve.
To be a success, sacrifice is sometimes required. It is like an exchange. You will give up one thing to gain another. You just need to make sure that what you give up is worth what you are gaining. If you have a job that requires you to focus intensely on your task, you may want to remove the telephone from your desk, as each time it rings, your concentration is broken. When you remove the daily distractions you are doing something that can help you to focus on your job.
Putting things off is the number one cause of stress. When you put things off, they tend to creep up on you all at once and you find yourself with a multitude of tasks that need to be finished all at once. This not only causes stress that leads to loss of concentration, it also can cause you to become overwhelmed with work, and that can lead difficulties in focusing. When you do what you are supposed to do at the time you are supposed to do it, you will find that your concentration will be stronger. Continue Reading »How to Improve Your Kid’s Grades
Do you think that parents can influence their kid’s grades at school?
Some parents leave the “education side” of things to the school. But, when you see your own child struggling, you want to do something and quick. There’s nothing harder than being a parent and not being able to help your kids when they need it is there?
We all know the pressure our kids are under to perform, society seems to have gone education crazy. We are embarrassed if our kids are not getting the grades at school. There’s so much competition, getting them in the best schools, monitoring the league tables, eventually turns into an obsession. I know people who have uprooted their entire family to move into a “catchment area” of a good school. Well, listen to this true story- my own son was struggling with school work, he hated it. Homework time was a nightmare in our house, bribes, threats, throwing books across the room, all regular occurrences. He wouldn’t read, wouldn’t learn his spellings, parent days were embarrassing! However, after the last parent day I was so shocked at the teacher’s comments I took matters into my own hands. I came across an article in the local paper about how a well known supplement can increase concentration levels in kids. I jumped on the internet and ordered a batch quickly. The article told of a study that took a group of school aged kids and gave them this supplement every day for 60 days. They tested them at the beginning of the study and again at the end. The results, ASTOUNDING!!! But get this, the most improved group of all were the kids who were labeled “slow” or “bit dim”. It seems that this “brain food” works best on kids whose concentration levels are low.
Very basically this is how it works, the brain cells are linked by pathways, essential fatty acids strengthen the pathways making them stronger and healthier thus enabling the cells to work together more efficiently.
More importantly our bodies cannot manufacture these acids, we have to obtain them from our diet. Unfortunately a typical western diet contains very little of these acids and it is estimated that the typical American is 95-99% deficient. It may be of little surprise then compared to other cultures we do not do well in intelligence tests.
This marked the beginning of our journey, this was step one! Every day with breakfast my son had an Omega 3 & 6 supplement. We called it “the clever pill”. I explained why we were taking it and that it would help him pay attention in class and concentrate for longer periods.
I am convinced that this made a huge difference to his concentration levels. His teacher reported only a few weeks later that he can stay focused for longer periods now and seems to listen more in class. The results, well, we thought we had some other kid’s report! he jumped 2 whole grades.
